Job Title: Senior SEO Strategist / SEO Lead (AI-Assisted)
Location: Remote Department: Marketing
Reports To: COO / Sales & Marketing Manager
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior SEO Strategist / SEO Lead who is both a strong strategist and naturally AI-forward in how they work.
You’ll own SEO performance across a portfolio of automotive dealers: defining strategy, shaping content, and partnering with Account Management, Sales, and Engineering to drive real outcomes. You’ll use AI and automation to amplify your own work—for research, ideation, drafting, QA, and analysis—and collaborate with our dev team as they handle most of the heavy technical implementation and deeper automation.

What You’ll OwnSEO strategy & performance
- Own SEO strategy and performance for a book of automotive dealer clients.
- Build and maintain SEO roadmaps across technical, on-page, local, and content.
- Prioritize initiatives based on impact and constraints (CMS, OEM rules, budget, etc.).
- Turn results into clear, business-level narratives for clients and leadership.
Using AI & automation to do your best work
- Use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Jasper) to accelerate your own workflows: research, briefs, outlines, drafting, QA, and analysis.
- Start from a clear intent, then use AI to explore options, pressure-test ideas, and tighten the final deliverable.
- Share effective patterns and prompts with the team so others can benefit, and collaborate with our CTO/dev team when it makes sense to scale those patterns more broadly.
Content and on-page SEO
- Develop content strategies for core, model/trim, service/parts, and local pages.
- Review and refine AI-assisted content drafts for accuracy, quality, and brand fit.
- Own on-page optimization: metadata, headings, internal links, and schema recommendations.
- Provide clear requirements and feedback to writers/designers when others are producing assets.
Local and technical SEO
- Lead local SEO strategy for multi-location dealers (GBP, citations, local landing pages managed and created by team members).
- Identify and prioritize technical SEO opportunities (crawlability, structure, indexation, site speed, etc.).
- Work closely with our developer team, who will handle most of the technical implementation; your focus is on diagnosing issues, scoping changes, and QA’ing results rather than doing all the hands-on dev work yourself.
- Operate effectively within common automotive CMS environments and vendor constraints.
Cross-functional leadership
- Act as the SEO point-of-contact for Account Management and Sales.
- Help Sales and AMs position our SEO offering clearly and confidently.
- Provide simple frameworks and talking points so non-SEO teammates can communicate SEO value without over-relying on you in every conversation.
- Contribute to internal documentation, playbooks, and best practices for SEO and AI-assisted SEO.
What You’ve Done
Must-have experience
- 4–7+ years of hands-on SEO experience, including strategy, execution, and reporting.
- Proven track record driving organic results for multi-location, franchise, or high-competition local businesses.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools in your current or recent roles (be ready to show how you use them, not just that you’ve tried them).
- Strong experience building and executing SEO roadmaps across technical, on-page, content, and local SEO.
- Proficient with core SEO tools: Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and at least a few of SEMrush / Ahrefs / Moz / SimilarWeb / Screaming Frog, etc.
- Able to explain SEO in plain language to clients and internal stakeholders.
Nice-to-have experience
- Automotive, multi-location retail, or other complex local verticals.
- Experience collaborating with dev/engineering teams on SEO implementation or basic automation/data workflows.
- Familiarity with common automotive CMS platforms (Dealer.com, DealerOn, CDK, etc.).
- Experience mentoring other SEOs, writers, or AMs.

- Salary range: $55,000 –$60,000, depending on experience and location.
