Oakes Auto Group is one of the fastest-growing dealer groups in the Midwest. With Kia, GMC, and more on the horizon, we are expanding and elevating our leadership team. We're seeking a high-performing Corporate Used Car Director to lead our used vehicle strategy across multiple rooftops.
The Opportunity
This executive-level role is responsible for the complete lifecycle of used vehicle operations—from sourcing and reconditioning to pricing, merchandising, and exit strategies. The ideal candidate has a strong record of fast-turn inventory management and operational execution across multiple brands and rooftops.
Key Responsibilities
- Wholesale & Transfers: Lead wholesale operations for the group. Proactively assess transfer or wholesale opportunities early in the lifecycle.
- Reconditioning Oversight: Ensure the recon process is consistent, fast, and effective across all locations. Align with systems like Tekion and Rapid Recon to track efficiency.
- Inventory Strategy: Drive high turn rates across multiple rooftops with disciplined aging strategies and accurate forecasting.
- Acquisition Mastery: Must have experience acquiring 50% or more of inventory outside of trade-ins (auctions, consumer acquisitions, service drive, etc.).
- Merchandising: Maintain a high standard for photo quality, descriptions, and pricing using tools like vAuto, LotWalk, and AutoHaulerExchange.
- Brand Coordination: Navigate inventory decisions across multiple OEMs and store dynamics with strong asset control practices.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in a leadership role managing used inventory (Used Car Director, GSM, or GM)
- Proven success managing large inventories with high velocity turn
- Experience leading sourcing strategies beyond trade-ins
- Multi-brand, multi-rooftop management experience strongly preferred
- Software Experience Required:
- vAuto (required)
- LotWalk, AutoHaulerExchange, Tekion DMS (preferred)
