A well-established, growth-focused automotive group located in Connecticut is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to join its executive leadership team. Position Summary:
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions across multiple rooftops, ensuring accurate reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. This role is ideal for a hands-on financial leader with a deep understanding of dealership accounting operations and a strategic mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all dealership accounting functions, including monthly financial statements, general ledger, schedules, and bank reconciliations
- Lead the preparation of consolidated financial reports across multiple brands and locations
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer financial requirements, audits, and internal policies
- Partner with department leaders to monitor performance, support operational decisions, and optimize profitability
- Supervise and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Manage cash flow, floor plan management, and tax compliance in coordination with outside advisors
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a retail automotive dealership environment
- Strong knowledge of dealership management systems (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
- Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication skills
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with multiple entities
