CFO Opportunity – North Haven, CT
Our client, a respected and growing family-owned automotive group, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee their financial operations. This organization has a proud history of over three decades in the industry and a reputation for excellence.

Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the President, the CFO will lead a team of 15 accounting professionals and play a vital role in shaping the financial strategy of the organization. The role encompasses managing the accounting department, ensuring tax compliance, and accurately reporting financial conditions. The CFO will also provide strategic analyses that guide operational and financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
-Oversight of the accounting office personnel along with all aspects of the general ledger and financial statement.
-Prepare complete financial statements monthly, adhering to dealership guidelines and manufacturer formats.
-Interpret financial statements and daily operating control (DOC) to identify trends and inform leadership.
-Develop short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
-Maintain an effective cash management system to optimize the use of funds.
-Oversee depreciation rates for capital assets and ensure accurate general ledger reconciliation.
-Stay current on tax code changes and advise leadership on necessary adjustments.
-Ensure compliance with all government financial regulations, including payroll taxes, income taxes, and retirement plan records.
-Administer loss review programs and maintain loss reserves for liabilities and trade receivables.
-Coordinate insurance renewals, prepare claims, and oversee property and liability insurance purchases.
-Supervise annual audits, physical inventories, and the preparation of information for CPAs.
-Continuously improve data integrity and reporting accuracy throughout the organization.
-Partner with General Managers to manage financial results and enhance profitability.
-Actively manage company assets, expenses, and vendor relationships.
Qualifications:
-A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Dealership Controller or in a similar senior financial role in the automotive industry.
-Proven leadership skills with a history of successfully managing teams.
-Strong knowledge of dealership accounting principles and financial compliance.
-Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
-A stable work history and a commitment to professional excellence.
