General Manager — Buy Here Pay Here Car Dealership Position Overview: As the General Manager, you will lead all facets of our buy here pay here dealership, driving profitability through in-house financing and customer-centric sales. You’ll oversee daily operations, build high-performing teams, and ensure compliance with subprime lending regulations. Your strategic vision and leadership will shape our dealership’s reputation and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of daily operations, including financial statements, inventory management, and staff performance
- Develop and implement sales strategies tailored to in-house financing and subprime markets
- Manage the in-house financing portfolio: define underwriting criteria, ensure contract compliance, and conduct risk analysis
- Drive collections performance to minimize delinquencies and protect portfolio health
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of all state and federal regulations governing subprime lending and dealership operations
- Hire, train, and supervise department managers across sales, finance, service, and collections
- Create a yearly business plan and budget; review monthly results against targets; adjust strategies as needed
- Foster a customer-first culture to maximize satisfaction, retention, and repeat business
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, lending institutions, and community partners
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of dealership sales experience and five years in a leadership role
- Proven track record managing subprime or buy here pay here financing operations
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and profit-and-loss statements
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred
- Proficient with dealership management systems and Microsoft Office
