If you’re the high level sales leader we’re looking for, you’ve probably never given the auto industry a second thought. In fact, now that we mention it, you might think, “not a chance!”
Well, that’s what most everyone on our team thought, until they understood who we are and what we’re building. That negative stigma and stereotype is exactly what creates such an awesome opportunity for us. Keep reading, and you might just find the opportunity you’re looking for, in an industry you might never have considered.
Who We Are
We care most about who you are. But the right people also want to be part of something special. So here’s a little about us:
5x Winners of Idaho's Best and Best of the Treasure Valley, Maverick is a car dealership that doesn't act like one. Our customers feel the difference - rating us 4.9 out of 5 on Google, in over 2,000 reviews! They love the experience and keep coming back and bringing friends, helping us expand 5x since starting in 2008. We love what we do, and we are constantly getting feedback from our customers like this:
- "They don’t know it but my experience was so much more than another car sale. In so many ways they healed me, helped me, and showed me there are still honest people in this world…”
- “The most revolutionary dealership I have ever had the pleasure to deal with…”
- “We came in strangers and left as family.”
- “After looking for a truck for a year, Maverick Car Company came into our lives! Not only did they have the truck… they gave us a memory that we won’t forget and an experience we will share with all.”
- “Having spent almost 40 years as a Finance Director at a large California dealership, and having to deal with high-pressure tactics, my experience with Maverick was enlightening to say the least. From the modern environment to the professionalism of the highly-trained employees, my stay at Maverick was a joy to behold. FINALLY someone has figured out how to run a dealership the way one should be run... just unbelievable... Carry on, gentlemen...you guys ROCK!!!”
The Role
If you’ve ever been in the car industry, this role might sound like desking + finance, all-in-one. But it’s probably quite different from what you’ve seen in either role before (working the deal from behind the curtain or on the tower, telling sales people what to say, maximizing gross, and coming out to “close” when you have to).
Instead, this role leads from the front—always engaged with clients, early and often—having fun, building rapport, and learning their situation so you can be a trusted guide to both client and Client Advisor.
For our team of Client Advisors you’re both coach and quarterback, air traffic control and co-pilot—leading the team, conducting the floor, guiding sales process and structuring deals—all while working side-by-side with each Client Advisor, meeting each client on a personal level, and being part of the process from the very beginning.
You’ll own the entire sales experience from the moment clients set an appointment through delivery, and the first 30 days after purchase. This includes all steps to the sale, deal structure, financing, contracting, compliance, and back-end execution while actively teaching and coaching Client Advisors.
This is not traditional desking or F&I. This is a leadership built on influence and involvement, trust and collaboration; not tactics, pressure or ego.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
There’s a lot here as this is a dynamic and highly engaged role. You’re either guiding clients and Client Advisors through multiple active transactions, coaching Client Advisors, or guiding transactions cleanly through contracting, stipulations, and funding. It’s a high-ownership role at the intersection of client experience, team development, and execution, so there’s always something that needs your leadership.
Here’s some specifics:
Deliver an Exceptional Client Experience - Not just better than other dealerships. Better than any buying experience, period. The goal is: “I’ll never buy anywhere else… and I’ll be sending everyone I know here, too.” You’ll lead from the front with clients, getting involved early and often; making the process clear, calm, and genuinely enjoyable, while presenting financing and protection products in a simple, educational way, only when they truly serve the client.
- Quarterback & Coach for the Sales Team - Be the steady guide for Client Advisors, coaching & teaching live on the floor, building consistency, and keeping every transaction moving with clarity and confidence. Also guiding Client Advisors to manage their time and focus, create self-generated opportunities, build their own clientele and turn transactions into long term relationships.
- Lender Relationships, Deal Strategy, and Ethical Profitability - Build deep, ongoing relationships with lender reps so you have real partners and real leverage when approvals, terms, or exceptions matter. Structure deals strategically and drive strong profitability the right way,
- Paperwork, Funding, and Compliance - Own contracting-to-funding execution, clearing stipulations fast, keeping every deal clean and compliant, and resolving issues without drama.
- Trade Appraisals and Valuation - Appraise trades accurately using thorough and up to date vehicle and market knowledge, structure equity correctly, and explain the rationale clearly, so the numbers are fair and the experience stays high-trust.
- Appointment Confirmation and Missed Opportunities - A second voice often adds value, so you’ll help increase conversions and prevent opportunities from going cold by personally confirming appointments, re-engaging missed appointments and/or clients that didn’t move forward, and supporting follow-up when that second voice is needed.
- Post-Sale Processing and follow-up - You’ll own the clients’ experience for at least 30 days after their purchase - guiding Client Advisors in their follow-up communication and personally handling cancellations, refunds, chargebacks, and unwinds—cleanly and clearly, protecting the client experience and keeping the back-end accurate.
What Success Looks Like
- Clients leave with stories to tell about their experienced; they refer friends without us even asking
- Clients feel informed, respected, and confident in their financing decisions
- Advisors feel supported, coached, and set up to win
- The process feels calm, clear, professional, and even a little fun
- Profitability is strong, consistent, and earned the right way
- More clients become long-term relationships, not one-time transactions
- Maverick’s reputation as the most trusted, hassle-free dealership gets stronger every month
- Clients leave with more faith in humanity than they walked in with, and they can’t stop telling people about it
Who You Are
First, you’ve got to have some serious talent and skills for the above responsibilities, so you get to be at your best and doing things you love at least 70% of the time. You don’t need experience in all of them, but you’ll need to show a stellar track record in similar areas. No matter what, a willingness to grow and challenge ways of thinking to consistently improve yourself & your team is a must.
Beyond the skills, here’s what makes someone thrive in this role: you’re high standards, low ego, and you don’t need a tower to lead.
- Care deeply about doing right by the client and turning transactions into long-term relationships
- Enjoy teaching and developing others, and you’re good at it too
- Believe education beats pressure, every time
- Balance financial acumen with empathy and clarity
- Hold high standards without ego
- Stay calm under pressure and bring stability to the sales process
Automotive F&I or desking experience might be helpful, but not required if you bring outstanding sales process training, strong finance/lending understanding, sound judgment, and a people-first mindset.
What’s in it for You?
We offer strong benefits (healthcare, PTO, 401k, etc), but we’re not trying to lure anyone here with more perks or a bigger paycheck. In fact, with this skillset you can likely earn more at other dealerships. This is for the leader who’s been there, done that, and now wants to do it differently, ethically, and with a realistic schedule, while helping build a local brand that’s headed somewhere special. If that fits your ‘why’, then we hope to hear from you.
