We are searching for an experienced Used Car Manager to oversee all aspects of the pre-owned vehicle operation with a strong focus on inventory management, profitability, merchandising, and team leadership. This role is responsible for driving sales performance while maintaining compliance with dealership policies, ethical standards, and all applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the used vehicle department
- Source, appraise, and acquire used vehicle inventory through auctions, trades, and direct purchases
- Ensure inventory levels, aging, and turn rates align with dealership objectives
- Set pricing strategies to maximize gross profit while remaining competitive in the market
- Oversee vehicle merchandising, online listings, photos, and descriptions to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Work closely with the sales, F&I, and reconditioning teams to ensure timely vehicle readiness
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators including inventory turn, gross profit, sales volume, and aging
- Coach, train, and hold sales staff accountable for performance and process adherence
- Ensure all used vehicle transactions are documented accurately and comply with dealership policies and regulatory requirements
- Maintain ethical sales practices and a customer-focused buying experience
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Used Car Manager, Pre-Owned Manager, or Sales Manager within an automotive dealership
- Strong knowledge of used vehicle acquisition, appraisal, pricing, and inventory management
- Demonstrated success managing performance metrics and driving profitability
- High ethical standards with a strong commitment to compliance and transparency
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with dealership management systems and inventory tools
